Garlic at heart of Koonya festival

GARLIC lovers rejoice, Koonya’s Garlic Festival is just over a month away.

Foodies will be able to browse and sample a smorgasbord of garlic artisan products, seasonal produce and delicious garlic-inspired dishes from around the world, as well as sampling award-winning wines, craft gin, beer, cider and other beverages.

At the heart of the festival is the garlic growers’ competition, open to both professional and amateur garlic growers of all ages statewide.

The festival is also renowned for its ‘Golden Globes’ – stunning hand-forged sculptures by award-winning sculptor and festival founder Colin Langridge.

This year’s festival will be held on Saturday February 29 and will include master classes, music and talks by horticultural experts.

There will also be fun activities for the kids including art, games and a scavenger hunt.

The cost of entry is $10 for adults, children under 16 free and Tasman residents and concession cardholders $5.
