The Deputy Premier Bryan Green today announced that Tasmanian company Hazell Bros has won the contract to build the $30 million South East Irrigation Scheme.
Mr Green said detailed design work would start immediately with construction to begin early next year.
“The project will create 60 jobs during the 18-months of construction and more than 300 on-farm and indirect jobs when completed,” Mr Green said.
“This is an extremely exciting project that will transform the economy of the south east farming district.
